drag radial tread question

drag radial tread question ok well my 11's just dont hook up on the track so im gonna put some drags radials on my stock 16's, theres a guy thats gonna give me some for free, but he said the tread pattern is gone, so does this mean there is no sense in even puting them on my car or do you think they will still hook up good with the tread gone??i am only gonna use them on the track and not on the road so what do you think???
what brand are they and tech might not let u run tires that are to bold. if there nittos they wont do to much..i ran some that were real low..got 1.80's if there m/t then if might be worth it, hey there free right

well my local strip really isnt all about the safety so i wont have to worry about that. i think they are nittos i cant remember i will double check, but a 1.8 is a lot better then what ive been getting so i wouldnt really be too pissed off about that
