Default Painting wheels

Has anyone painted their aluminum polished wheels. I have American Torque Thrusts and am going to paint the spokes. I plan on masking with duct tape and media blasting the spokes to skuff them. Then etching primer and base/clear on the paint........ Suggestions ??

Sounds like you have it covered. I'd suggest for masking when painting to use painters tap in lieu of Duct tape. The Duct tape would be fine for the media blasting.

You could always just sell your polished ones and buy the ones with painted spokes. They are called Torque Thrust 2 "classics" and are available with either gray or black spokes. They aren't listed on their site, you have to call them.

Thanks both of you for the suggestions. I knew they made the SD 200 with painted spokes but not the Torque Thrust II.
I'll have a look tomorrow.

These are the wheels Tony is talking about.

The wheels are listed on American Racing's Website here under "Torq Thrust Custom Wheels," and then look for the CL205's:

17" are not listed as you will see, but I can imagine you can call them for a price. The spokes are not smooth, but rather rough similar to the old style TT D's. I got mine through Discount Tire and they took about 6 weeks to build. Too bad you aren't local, I'd sell you mine! If you need any more info let me know.
