widest trie for 17x8 rim

what is the widest tire you can run safely on a 17x8 rim can i run a 275 and be safe to use on the front ?

265 kumho ecsta v710's on a 8" rim hangs over pretty good and almost defeats the purpose having a larger tire. I would stick with a 245 on a 8" rim other wise your not going to be using the whole tire. If your trying to do it for looks, it will look stupid too because of the over hang. Like a muffin top.

255 /45/17 max.

But 245/45/17 is stock height, and would be perfect!
