Default Angle Grinding & you

Hey guys, just finished fitting these suckers on....

18x10.5 Z06s with 305/35s

I had to grind the **** out of the bump stops, probably a good 1/8th of an inch or more. Lots o' sparks.

Anyhow, I need to clean the car up and get some more pictures in here, but they seems to fit just fine, although I might need to hammer a bit more in the passenger rear.

Also, don't ask why my exhaust looks weird, angle of the picture is off slightly.

Yeah, the clearance is great (now) that I ground it, but it's still not good when the suspension is unloaded and on jacks.

Maybe its just me, but those look tiny for 305s on a 10.5 rim.

Well, they are nittos and I'm told they run small, but I measured them, and they were the full 12.5 inches in width as advertised on the site >_>

Damn... not going to win any size comparisons today

I want to know what you guys do when you have your car suspended in the air.

Do your bump stops rub? From what I have gathered from going trough countless threads, it only happens to some people.

I know for sure I could fit bigger tires on the car, and nittos in general run small, but I would need to grind some more because as soon as the suspension is unloaded, bump stops are right in the way.

My drag radials are on a 15x10 prostar with 7.5 backspace, and my tires look way wider than those, and they dont rub at all driving around, and I dont think they rub when the car is in the air either.

Simple fix for jacking up your car: lift the rearend by placing the jack under the differential. This lifts both sides evenly at the same time, and keeps the suspension loaded, so you don't have to worry about it hanging off the bump stops. Once it's high enough, you can put jack stands under the frame rails or put them under the axles.

my wheels cleard the bumpstops. 19x12s. my tire are roughly 27" tall. today i did remove mine totally. i cut mine off and smoothed out the underside and i also heated up and massaged in the entire spring bulge so i can tuck my 74mm offset wheels

Thanks for that, I don't know why I forgot to do that

And cutting my bumpstops off was, and never will be an option unfortunately.

Too bumpy in AZ (constant construction work everywhere).

Also for the width of my tires compared to some of you guys.... is 12.5 not wide or do the pictures give no justice the width? or both

With stock height , you should never hit your bump stops.. What are you doing , going Offroading ?.. When i bought my car it had sportlines on it with stock shocks .. So thats why i had a problem, but uh you shouldnt

To clarify, I'm not hitting the bottom of the bumpstop, but rather the metal "side" of it when the car is in the air.

Now, this is easily rectified by putting your jackstand underneath the diff (which I was kindly reminded about), however I forgot to mention one thing about that.

One of the only GOOD, trustworthy shops I have had experience with is not a drive-on lift, therefore my suspension is completely unloaded when they are working underneath my car.

I don't think I have heard of a NicN, but this is the NicD I'm talking about

as stated you should never hit your bump stops with stock or near stock height and if i need to add bump stops back ill just relocate them to another spot

heres a pic of 325s

i will admit must be the angle in which pics are taken. cause my 325s dont look wide and they are huge

hitting bump stops when you mentioned roads are to bouncy in your area. as for the bump stop hitting wheels horizontal i would still remove them. i seen first hand when ZR1s wedged themselves against the bump stops. wasnt a pretty sight

I dont see any kind of way besides spacers for getting them away from the stops.. Try taking out the huge spacer between the mount and the bump stop ...

Admittedly, I have never seen how far my wheels travel and if you guys say that it shouldn't hit with stock height... I'm inclined to believe you.

However, I have had some JARRING hits when these fucktards have done road constuction. I'm talking like 6-8 inch sheer drops from pavement to dirt road.

I do plan on lowering the car eventually (year or so), so it might not be wise to take out the bump stops still?

Also, I will definitely get on posting some more pics... need to wash the car, and take it down to ASU for some sweet parking garage pics (structure 7 for all you people that live in Tempe )
