not to get into a pissing match, but there really isnt that big a differance between autox and road course when it comes to tires. they are very similiar. the only real differance would be the hardness of the compound of the tire, if youre talking dedicated autox vs. road course. the softer compound would overheat on a road course.
the reason why you see mich or pirellis on high end cars is marketing. pure and simple. why do you think Mobil 1 is so hyped up when its an absolute garbage oil? marketing. im not saying theyre garbage tires, but there are just better ones out there. not to mention all michs and pirellis are EXTREMELY expensive.

Some tyres will grain on certain cars for a few laps then clean off, some other tyres will be super fast for a few laps, others are really consistent, others change the handling characterisitcs of the car, tyres are super complex

yeah, complex....but there really is no dedicated autox tire vs. a track tire, other then the hoosier A6 and R6....A meaning autox and R meaning road race/track. and the only real differance? the compound is harder and more heat resistant in the R6 then in the A6.
