My sub just pops kind of instead of hitting. i have tried new rca cables and a turn on wire. I have tried 2 amps could it be because its not in the box complete i just hooked it up to see if it works.

 

you aren't going to get any bass at all if its not in a box.

then you might get a little, along with massive air leaks

i have tried it in the box but the box isnt deep enough and it still pops.

 

does the speaker cone move up and down in the basket rapidly? if so, get you a box and enjoy. it wont sound like much if anything without properly being set in a box. dont turn that sub up with out a box, you could damage it doing that mess.
