i grounded my amp where the rear passenger side seat belt attaches to the body (near the monsoon amp). Remove the bolt, lift the seat belt bracket/assembly, file off paint down to bare metal, sandwich a ring terminal between the bracket and bare metal, tighten bolt. It will make more sense when you remove the passenger side hatch trim and take a look.

I grounded mine straight to the inner fender. Drill and a nut andd bolt with a star washer. My amp is located in the little cuby hole on the driver side, if that helps.

Is the speaker a dual voice coil speaker? They should come with directions to hook them up, if yopu bought it new.

I bought the Sub new directly from FI's website, but i didnt get any instructions or even the screws to screw the sub down to the enclosure. Which is no biggie, i can just use the screws from my busted subwoofer's on my last system. I believe the sub is a dual voice coil speaker, ill have to check the website out to make sure though.

Ill just take a look tomorrow and figure out where a good place to ground it would be.

You can ground it to any metal but a good thing to go by is do not ground farther than 3 feet from where your amp is

do not ground it to the fender or anything of that sort... our cars are unibodies so the ground needs to be on the ground of the car.

just run it back to the negative side of the battery. ive been runnning amps like that for years and never had any bad ground issues. before that it seems like every 4 or 5 months i would have to clean off the previous "bolted" ground location

running to the battery is a total waste IMO especially since im sure ur not running 1500+ watts rms
ground it to some metal in the trunk and you will be good

For your sub to receive full power your Amp needs to be able to deliver rated power at either a 1ohm, or 4ohm load; depending on which way you wire it up.

its easier to pay the $10 extra for power cable to run the ground for the battery and never have to worry about it.

Wink

Here's where I have my Amps grounded(passenger side rear fender) with a 3/8" nuts and bolt.
I've never had any problems with it grounded here(center of picture).

Seat belt mounts. Any of the large bolts. I used the upper mounts; I used a 0 gauge ring terminal that I cut open so it's a half-ring, scraped some paint away in the immediate area and mounted it between the seatbelt mount and the nut on top of it. It goes body -> seatbelt mount -> my wire -> nut, but it's fine. Just make sure you do not:

1) Attach it to a very thin piece of metal
2) Attach it to a piece of metal that is weakly attached e.g. tack welded

Oh on all the cars I have wired I always run a 4 ga wire from the battery to a central location under the dash, then from the dash to the rear of the car. I use a distribution block at each location and ground everything to those. Never have to worry about bad grounds if you do it that way.

Unhappy

It's really not bad at all, considering I've got 6 runs of 4 gauge going into my Amp box(at right of picture).and that picture doesn't help any either, the angle just makes it look worse than it really is.

Okay you right, it does look like .........!

I know there is a lot of wires there, so it would take some planning to get the wires there cleanly. I have found it helpfull to lay out the components and what wires they need and move them around until I think I have the best layout to run the wires clean. Its kind of hard to explain, but maybe it will help if you decide to clean it up.

It's not worth the money because that location is well grounded.
