Default Problem w/ factory shock sensor?????

I cant seem to get my shock sensor to work.. I have the factory alarm with the shock sensor, and I set it all the way to max. sensitvity level, but I can hit the car, shake it hard and still wont go off. but if I tap the little box itself it blinks. WHY????????? the book says that a gust of wind can set it off when it is like that. Please help me. I want to set the sensor to pick up if someone hits my car. PLEASE!!!!!!!

You are not alone. My car was stuck on the driver's side one evening causing $1000 in damage and the alarm did not go off. I took it to the dealership to have it checked. It was on its max setting. If you kick the tires or if a freight train goes by, the alarm sounds. If you hit the body...nothing!

I had a problem with mine a while ago. In the Camaros, the shock sensor is in a pretty bad place. If it rains and you open the hatch, water comes off of the hatch and some can run down onto the sensor. I opened mine up (just pry it open) and it was full of fungus. I cleaned it up with alcohol and it's worked fine since. I don't know if this is what your problem is, but it's worth a shot.

PS - I don't mean to point out the obvoius, but you do have the shock sensor activated right?

Go with an aftermarket alarm.
