I've got an 02 Camaro SS with the Monsoon and a MTX Thunderform Spacesaver sub in the back running off a PIE Aux box.

I'm looking to add an iPod interface kit to the mix and ditch my 12 disc changer and was wondering which kit has the best bang for the buck?

I'd like to get one that will allow me to charge, leave iPod unlocked, and use my hand controls to operate track selection. What is everyone using and which seems to be the best out on the market?

I've looked at the Peripheral and USA SPEC kits, but would like a few know what everyone's experience has been.

 

Most of the kits out there are for 04+ GM cars.

I went with an Alpine head unit, and an aftermarket interface to interface the steering wheel control to the head unit. Works great.

 

I have one that plugs into the back of the stock radio in place of the cd changer... works great. I just bought a navi system. Id be willing to sell you the cord... only used for a month. Ebay they go between $50-$60

 

Best Buy has this kit you talk about. I know because I bought one from them.

 

Which one did you have and how did you like it? Anything that you didn't like about it or did it give any trouble?

 

They only had one brand when I got mine. It is plug and play, so pretty simple. The whole kit is hidden behind the stock HU, so I like it alot. It charges the ipod when it is not in use. I am able to use the steering controls also.

It hasn't given me any trouble as far as owning it for over two years now.

I got rid of my CD changer after installing this kit.

 

Does it play all songs randomly, or in order? or does it play playlists?

 

I have an old iSimple that i bought off of ebay for $30 used, and it works great. You can set your ipod or w/e you have to a certain playlist or shuffle and just go through the songs with the steering wheel controls. If you decide to go this route, make sure you get the iSimple for the correct year of your car.

 

I have the pac box. It will charge, play and run off of your steering controls. It will let you control the music with the ipod too.

 

It played all the songs in order or randomly. It will play the playlists as you please. That's why I got rid of that stank *** CD changer.

I'm going to be putting Ipod kit for my G35 too.

 

Best Buy's in my area only had the 04+ GM car iSimple adapters. I had to go to Fry's Electronics (localish electronics megastore) to find one... It was in a corner with a layer of dust on it. $100 brand new.

 

Which model # is it? iSimple's website doesnt show one for the Camaro

 

PXDP is the part number and PXHGM1 is the harness adapter. Peripheral Electronics made it.
