I had the monsoon tape player in my car, and a friend gave me his monsoon cd player. He told me I needed to cut a certain (brown) wire and re-attach it to this random wire coming out of the deck. I did that. But now when it's dark outside and the lights come on, no lights come on on the stereo, and the time dissapears. It also has trouble reading cd's which im guessing is just a laser issue.

any ideas? I suck when it comes to electronics/audio

 

...If all you did was swap a tape deck to a CD player, and BOTH were out of a '97-'02 F-Body, you shouldn't have needed to cut anything. It's just plug and play. I did the same thing...I went from a '98 Monsoon tape deck to an '02 CD player and it just plugged right in without ANY thing needed to be cut.

My advice is to splice that brown wire back together and try it.

 

I too just swapped. It's a 5 minute swap, plugs are exactly the same.

Ask him why and post back...I have NO idea what it could possibly be for...
