12 in box question
Do you think I will loose bass with them having there own little space compared to sharing the whole box?
I have two JL audio 10w3's being powered by a 1000 watts (RMS) xtant bad boy mono amp. This is way more than enough power to torch the woofers.
Have had this setup for two years know with no issues. The key is clean power. Distortion (clipping) is what kills speakers.
I have no seperators, just a dowel rod for support in the center of the box.
If you need more airspace for the woofers, you can remove the center support, then scew in a dowel rod for support. If you have enough airspace already, you are fine with the seperator. What you dont want is NO seperator AND NO support, as flexing of a long panel span will lessen the impact of your bass response. This is why fiberglass is not optimum for a large box.
Call JL Audio tech support and ask them. Their subwoofers have won many, many car audio competitions.
Google subwoofer enclosure.
You actually get a gain in bass response by using two woofers in the same airspace!
This only works if wiring them in parallel (mono sub channel). If you are running the subs off two rear channels (not the best scenario) you should use a spacer, as one channel may be putting out more power than the other. This can limit output capability.
