Default SVC 2ohm in Sail Panel Question

I have a '99 Formula with sail panel speakers that are blown. I want to replace these with Kicker CompVT 6.5" subs. The subs are 2ohm single voice coil, and I know the factory "subs" are 4ohm dual voice coil that have 4 wires running to each sub from the factory amp. My question is how will I properly wire the single voice coil 2ohm subs in so they are getting a 2 ohm load? The sound system is the completely stock Monsoon system.

It can't be done. There are no wiring configurations or tricks that will make a 2-ohm speaker look like a 4-ohm speaker.

The two 4-ohm voice coils in Firebird subs are connected to separate 4-ohm channels from the amp and those channels are not 2-ohm stable so using your new subs could result in letting all the smoke out of your amp.

Ok, so I need to either use SVC 4ohm subs and just use a single channel on each side, or (ideally) get DVC 4ohm subs and use both channels on both sides, one to each voice coil.

I see the Audiopipe and the Bazooka subs on Keeaudio are DVC, are the CDTs DVC or SVC, I can't find that on the spec sheets anywhere. Also, can anyone else recommend any other nice DVC 4ohm subs?

The CDTs are SVC.

The only other 6.5" DVC sub I know of is the Elemental Designs e3.6, formerly known as the EU-700. They produce very good sound for a relatively small sub and they're currently on sale for half price but they require a spacer for mounting because they are somewhat deeper than stock.

If you could guarantee the two channels on the amp had matched internal impedances, you could do it. I don't believe there's any (practical) way to guarantee that. My suspicion is that they ARE, in fact, matched, and that the only difference between the Firebird and Camaro versions of the Monsoon amp is that the Camaro parallel-bridges those two channels internally. But I've got no way to prove that, and I wouldn't recommend you wire your car based on my hunch.

See my other thread on this to understand why I think that way.

Here's some info on the Elemental Design sub install, if you decide to go that route https://ls1tech.com/forums/stereo-el...ed-eu700s.html

For now I went with some nice component woofers (not using the tweeters or xovers from the set) in the rear hooked up to just one of the 4ohm channels. Is there a way to bridge both of the 4ohm channels to work with a single 4ohm? I'm not really brushed up on bridging channels in an amp because I pretty much exclusively use a single sub on a 5 channel amp.

In about six months I plan on redoing the entire stereo anyway, so I didn't want to spend too much time and effort now.
