Default Good all around door speaker?

Is there a door speaker that can do it all? Car is a 94 Z28 that has the stock speakers to my knowledge in the doors and the bose box looking deal in the driver side hatch area. I kind of want to take the bose assembly out, how much does it weigh? So with that out though I'm wondering if there is a door speaker that can do everything fairly well. I don't want my music sounding flat because I took the back thingy out. Deck is a old Aiwa, I have no idea at the minute, it came with the car when I bought it 5 years ago.

Also my speakers all randomly work, not sure if its a issue with wiring coming undone behind the head unit, or the wiring in the doors is loosing connection with the speakers or what. If you hit a bumpy rutted road various speakers change in volume.

I'm looking at gutting my doors soon, and figure while I'm in there maybe new speakers and looking at the wiring, but looking for ones that will sound good.

pulling out the factory sub, you will notice a decline in your bass. no way around that, unless you go to a sub in the hatch or in sail panel setup. a good all around speaker would be the polk db, but you will still loose bass. if you do not want to do a sub in the hatch i would say look at doing a set of the bazooka, cdt, kicker, or jl 6.5 inch subs, with a nice 2 channel/mono block bass amp, and a set of decent 6.5" door speakers. If you would like the highs to be brightened up, get you a nice 4 channel amp to do front channels on your doors and the rear channels on our subs in the sail panels.

Well I'm trying to drop some more weight out of the car. That is why I'm curious how much that thing weighs, guess I could look for the weight reduction list. I'd like to make it less complicated also and just have the two speakers. I know I'm going to lose some bass, but I don't want it to sound completely flat.

Its probably time for a new head unit anyway in my case. Mine doesn't do MP3, WMV, bluetooth, sat radio, nothing. It does have a aux port though, so I can use my phone's mp3 stuff in it.

Looked at the weight reduction list, go figure they list the monsoon stuff, but not the Bose stuff.

It doesn't weigh that much. Not enough to make a difference in quarter mile times anyway. Either way it's not a great piece either so taking it out is not much of a loss honestly.
I'd definetely upgrade the HU. A nice set of door speakers would do ok with a decent HU. It wouldn't sound flat but it wouldn't make huge bass either. My DD Kia hits ok with a component set up front off a Farenheit DVD touch screen I have. It has rear coaxials I use for fill but they are barely noticeable. The components make decent kick drum type bass thump. You could get away with that for decent sound.
