Infinity 2-ohm to replace sails subs One of my rear seat subs blew in my 98 TA (has monsoon). I had a 99 Camaro (had monsoon) and when this happened I just replaced with the factory speakers. I found them on gmpartsdirect.com for $57 shipped per speaker for the TA. I know they will last a while but eventually will blow again. Last time I went through this the Inifinity 2-ohm speakers weren't out yet. Has anyone use these as sail speaker replacements and do they sound good with the same factory low-mid bass? Firebirds don't take 2-ohm sail panel speakers like Camaros do. Those speakers would be a BAD choice for use with a factory system in a Firebird, potentially destroying the amp by overdriving the sail panel channels.

Ok I read the sticky...I was used to dealing with the Camaro. so, any advice on replacements? Do they have to be subs or can they be regular 6 1/2" speakers?

There are three aftermarket options for replacing Firebird sail panel subs: Elemental Designs e3.6 subs (formerly known as 7kV.2 and EU-700), Audiopipe, and Bazooka. All are 6.5" dual voice coil 4-ohm + 4-ohm subs like the factory speakers.
The eD subs are nice and are on sale for $40 but they are somewhat too deep for the stock mounting and require spacers to mount properly. The Audiopipe and Bazooka subs mount without modification and are available from Kee Audio - a sponsor here.

Infinity also sucks at bass, anyway. Their speakers are overrated junk.
Personally, I'd run Peerless SLS on an external 100W RMS (or so) amplifier. Awesome speaker, great sound quality for bass, Thiele-Small parameters available and ACCURATE (unlike ED's made up parameters) and from a company not shady like ED.
