Default Amp turned off and battery died

i was driving to my grandpa's house yesterday and 20 minutes away from his place my 600 watt zapco amp turned off then it started to smell in my car...but it didn't smell like a burning plastic, it actually smelled like a new car smell lol well when i got to his town i popped the hood and trunk and didn't find anything out of the ordinary other than i no bass. well today i went to start the car and click click click click before we charged the 4 year old interstate battery we popped the tops off and saw 1 cell was staring to go bad, i'm wondering if this would cause my amp to short out and i'm hoping it's not done for cause that ****** wasn't cheap lol i'll be puttin in a optima red top thursday. any advice is appreciated
