Default Headunit mounting problem

Well I bought the deck installation from BestBuy and quickly came to find out its junk. I installed it and as i was finishing up the plastic pieces started to fall off and break apart. I've installed headunits before no problem so im not sure why this one just decided to break. Is there anything out there not too expensive that maybe isn't plastic thats made for the camaro? (i have an 00 camaro) Right now its barely holding in place until i figured out what to to.

This is what i bought: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Metra+-+...&skuId=9436452

Thanks.

when i ordered my head unit from crutchfield it came with a very nice one piece mount for my alpine head unit.
but soon after i replaced it with the humount...
check crutchfield... if they sell it it should be cheap bc they gave it to me for free with the purchase of the head unit.

hope it helps.

i found this
look

In-dash Receiver Kit
Fits select 1998-up Chevrolet, GMC, and Isuzu models
Chassis sizes S & E

its 12 bucks.
hope it helps..

That kit is not for an 00 camaro.
Parts needs for head unit installation.
I suggest the Metra 99-3300 for a 1.5DIN HU that will fit with a flush mount kit.
Here it is in my 2002 Camaro with an Alpine ida-x200.

I'm surprised you're having trouble with it. Usually those work out fine. Most of them look like the one you posted (sometimes without the pocket).

You can make your own, or check out HU Mount. HU Mount is triple the cost of those black plastic mounting kits, but it looks much nicer. They aren't a sponsor so I'm not going to post a direct link but you can google "humount" and find them.

Many people on here have used them. If you search around, you'll find plenty of pics of installs using the black plastic mounts, HU Mounts, and custom.

The part number of the one you bought is 99-2009, but I've seen other part number mentioned:

Every GM car will need
40-GM10 - GM factory antenna adapter for aftermarket head unit

Then you will select one of the following kits (adapts 1.5 din to 1 din)
99-3300 - Camaro 97-02 dash kit
99-3009 - Camaro 93-96/Firebird 1993 and UP dash kit
99-4544 - '82 and UP GM multi-kit with 1/2 DIN EQ option

Wiring harness to adapt the back of the radios wires to the factory plug
(highly recommended that you use this but not required)
70-1858 Pro Wire harness for 1993-02

Ha sorry i posted the wrong link, but you get the idea of what i was talking about. I may check out the humounts later on, but yeah they're a little bit more. And my problem with the plastic is that it wasn't sturdy and was for some reason bending and the little 'nub' that holds onto the bracket kept breaking. I went out and looked at it and the universal kit i had, and used a different type of bracket to hold it so maybe that will hold for now.

When I got my Alpine from Crutchfield, it came with a GM F-Body mounting kit. I believe they use Metra as well. The only issue I have with mine is the bezel on my formy won't stay flush against the dashboard up in the top-right corner, but for me, it works OK. Hope that helps!
