Default Anyone ever had a system stolen?!?!?!

I just got a call from my Dad that said my younger brothers car had its back window busted in, and his speakers, and amplifier stolen... This really pisses me off!! My Z28 got lucky and just got a dick painted on her windshield... Has this happened to anyone? What do you do to avoid this?

There's not much to prevent it besides an alarm and tinting your back window real dark (i got 5% and u cant see anything). If you have a heavy system somewhere tucked away it'd be hard to get to, and maybe secure the amp and speakers in so they cant be just screwed out, maybe some type of special bit or something.

Use security screws. Get a car alarm that has a pager. Grab your gun.

Yeah the system was hidden in the hatch, under all of the hatch covers and stuff so you couldnt see it at all...

Now we just have to hope that the kid is dumb enough to pawn them, or put them in his car and go to school where my bro will find him... And beat his *** in, bust his back window, take back the speakers, and slash all tires...

Honestly, I'm sorry man, but that's kind of funny. Sounds like something I would do to a buddy of mine.

IMO, an alarm doesn't do a damn thing. A guy is going to take your stuff, if he wants it enough.

I've had my system stolen twice. The first time wasn't as bad, because a pro did it. I didn't even know it had been broken into until I sat in the seat and looked up, to find my screen gone, wires cut and everything. The second time, not so lucky. Johnny douchebag decided to throw a brick in my SIDE AND REAR window to get in, then took everything, I guess he didn't have wire cutters so he decided to just rip everything out, so everything was a mess

Theres no way to avoid it, I had an alarm both times, idiots are idiots and will break in no matter what.

Thats why I don't play my speakers too loud around where I plan on going (home, work, etc.), w/in a mile or two i turn it down to make sure no ones scoping it out, and if i do think someones suspicious ill drive around a random block a few times til they're gone. You could always bolt your system down underneath it where you can't see and put some type of lock on it, of course only with the speaker box and maybe amp, the rest like the headunit you can't do much about. Also helps to park in the open where people can see your car though that can only do so much, i try to park on the busy street at my work cause people are always going by and my cars right there, little sense of security.

Get an alarm with a PAGER. That way you are instantly notified when the alarm goes off. Get your gun, put on some shoes, and get your butt out their and make them pay!

Seriously, do you guys not have insurance? I know that if I anything is ever stolen from my car, I just call my insurance company up, and go from there.

And the whole get your gun and show them pay....right.

Most policies do not cover aftermarket stereo equipment.

lotta good advice in here, but sometimes its just un-avoidable of no matter where you park, alarm, you have, how good you hide the system.

I was thinking about a glass breaking alarm sensor and OC, CN or CS gas dispensing device. If your window gets busted it would release the gas in the car. Granted the window would let some out but who is going to want to stand around and wait for it to clear enough to allow them to get inside the car while the alarm is blaring. The device would be deactivated with a key on signal. Worse case is something sets it off unintentionally and then you would just have to open the doors and wait for it to disperse. CS or CN gas would be definitely strong enough to make anyone have little desire to enter your car. I suppose with a 15 second delay on gas release and a pager it would allow the perp to be disabled and you could arrive to restrain him for authorities. This would make the gun your carrying only be used as a last resort, when all lesser means have failed or can reasonable be employed, to prevent death or serious bodily harm. (opps flashback)!

But, it's personal property. I've asked my insurance guy if someone breaks into my car and steals some ****, will it be covered, and he said yes it will be covered under your renters insurance.
