Default Total Rewire?

I don't know if any of you have seen my previous posts but I just bought a 93 Z28. The previous owner had some crazy audio setup, alarm, remote start, neon run all through the car. In my effort to remove all this extra crap I've managed to fill a 50 gallon yard waste bag with wiring, relays, and neon lights!!!!
During my quest to de-ricer my car I've found that there were wires tapped into wires that were tapped into other wires and all of it was cut into the factory harnesses at different points. I've got splices in the harness under the hood, under the dash, and under the carpet! I've finally removed it all and I now have a stock looking interior/harness.
The problem I fear I will be encountering eventually is shorts due to bad wiring and all the taps and splices the previous owner did. Right now the car runs well, I drive it everyday, but I fear it's a problem that will show up aomeday. Rather than chase wires everywhere inspecting the entire harness I was thinking about removing all the wiring in the car and rewiring it with a Painless harness. Any suggestions, ideas, potential issues?

I'm talking about the entire car, the entire chassis harness. I've already rerun wires for my audio, just some basic wire and average speakers running off an Alpine head unit. Next year I plan on tearing the whole interior out and basically restoring the car from the inside out. The wiring was so cut up and spliced that I'm affraid one day it might catch fire.

Yes Painless would great choice and good call on the harness. From recent experience I learned not many mechanics want to go chasing shorts in electrical system. The competent ones will charge out the ***!!!!

This way you 'll know whats in your car.
