Default JLw3, JLw6, or JLWT5

I have a pro box that holds two 12's and it has 1.10cu.ft. for each sub. I just blown out one of my JLw3's that I currently have in the box and I want to up grade. The w3's need 1.25cu.ft., are 500rms, and the magnet is not as big as the JLw6's. I was thinking of going with the JLw6's that need 1.25cu.ft. each and are 600rms, but the magnet is going to take up much more space in the box and I might not get the full potential out of the speakers. Next, is the JL 13WT5 that need 0.80cu.ft., are 600rms,and the magnet only sticks out 2.5in. into the box, but I never heard these before. Which pare of speakers should I buy?

JLw3
JLw6
JLTW5
Something else "better" that I don't know about

Just curious, but why JL? There are plenty of subs that are a lot cheaper and sound just as good, if not better.

Well, I can get JL audio for dealer prices, so I'm getting top of the line product for cheeeeep!!! But if you have any recommendations for more power in my limited space let me know.

Sealed or ported? And with only 1.10cu in. per sub I'd have to look around and see what some specs are, but thin subs aren't great and i think they're a waste, just my opinion though. If you have the money you could build/have a box built thats ported (or sealed) with about 1.25-1.50 cu in. per sub but I don't know how much 'boom' you're looking for.

got a 13 w6v2 in the rear of mine powered by a 500/1 jl amp as well, and I couldn't be happier. Really good kick when I want it, and when it's turned down it still sounds good without being too overbearing.

Depends on how good of a deal your getting for the JL's. Dealer pricing on JL may still be higher then what you could get a really good sub for that will outperform the JL.
RE Audio, MMATS (just did an install with a P3.0 and it was very cool), Fi (anything they make), and now looking into some of the Boston stuff as well. The G3 series are looking promising.

Depending on your price you could also look into AQ, Sundown, DC, or Rockford but RF gets pricey. But JL is always overpriced and you could spend less and get better quality.

It's a sealed box, I would like to get the most 'boom' out of this box, and I've been asking around you might be right about thin speaker not being all that.

I would stick with a conventional type sub design as thin mount subs generally do not perform quite as well as a comparable conventional sub. Thin mount subs are for situations where you just can't use a conventional subwoofer.

If you want loud go ported, but if you want a cleaner hit go sealed. Generally, sealed is better for rock genres and such and ported is better for hip hop genres. If you have buddies with different setups, listen and you can get an idea of what you like better.

My buddy and I have been looking at Fi lately and after looking at the new SSD12. I think that I might go with them, because of the price, 800rms, and 0.7 to 1.2 cu.ft. for a sealed box which is perfect for my current box. BUT how well are they built and how long will they last with normal use? Does anyone have any experience with Fi's?

From everything I've read and seen they're great quality and will last. I think they're a little overrated since Steve Meade uses/used them now everyone wants them. But haven't heard anything bad about them so why not try.

There are a few members here who have used them and swear by them. I have a couple of people I know that use them and they are very well made and can handle pretty much anything you throw at them.
Fi makes great subs and so do several other companies. Steve Meade has also done some installs using RE Audio and I don't think they are overrated at all. I used to use 2 RE Audio SE10's and they sounded VERY good. In fact, for the money, they are a great bang for the buck sub (no pun intended). So are the MATTS subs. I've heard them in other guys cars and am actually looking forward to using them more as well.
