The car is a 2001, but it's not a Monsoon, and it's only a tape deck - no CD. The previous owner had an aftermarket HU and took it out and put this one in when he sold it to me. I'm not sure if he put the original 01 HU back in, or just any GM unit. He deals a lot with F-Body's, so he has access to several models I'm sure. I'm afraid it might be an older model. Wouldn't most 01s have CD players built in?

I got the bright idea to go and see what Crutchfield had to say. the RCA cables are strictly for video, you can solely USB if audio is all you're transferring.
Thanks anyway though pentavolvo.

This might be a too...but I've got my old monsoon CD HU out of my '01 SS for sale.

And just FYI, my '01 SS came with a monsoon tape deck, lol. (I found the monsoon I have for sale and bought it up, and it's a 2000 model). It works GREAT with the isimple and the CD works fine too.....it's downfall was that a lot/most of the light were burned out so I bought another stock HU. I love the isimple, and I even made a little holder for it, you can see it in the last pics.

Resurrecting this thread to ask a related question. I have a 2002 Trans Am with the CD changer. A couple years ago I bought a harness with the GM9-AUX input converter that has 2 RCA inputs, red and white. I bought it to wire my Siruis in but never did. The harness plugs in between the head unit and the CD changer somewhere, I don't know I lost the instructions.

My question is can I use this to hook up my IPod? Can I get an RCA to IPod cable and be good to go? Can this GM9-AUX adapter be used?

I have searched but the threads I found are related to IPod hookup without adapter.

The GM9-AUX can be used to connect any auxiliary source that has headphone output such as satellite radio and MP3 players including the iPod. Unlike some iPod-specific adapters, you won't be able to control the iPod from the head unit (except volume of course) - you'll have to select tracks and playlists on the iPod itself.
