Default What laws apply?

I'm looking at having a laser jammer/radar detector installed in my car. I am a Texas resident, my car is registered and insured in Texas, but I am currently in South Carolina. In Texas, devices like that are not illegal but in South Carolina and other states, they are. Am I busted if they see that or does my Texas residency "protect me"? (I've seen window tint cases that get dismissed because the car is registered in a state where a darker tint is legal). Any advice, experience, or sources will be appreciated, thank you.

P.S. Yes, I have a speed problem sometimes

Not really sure on that. If you really wanted to be safe, just dont use the jammer. They are only illegal to use in that state not to own one. Just use the radar detector for now and just be careful.....and safe.

I don't have experiance in your (two) state(s), but I live in CA where detectors are legal. I've paid tickets in VA where they aren't.

In VA, they don't care where you're from.

IMO though, what are the odds of being busted with something like that?

Unfortunately the Navy keeps me in SC for at least the next four years, so I've got to deal with it. I think right now I'll stick with just a radar detector or something with an on/off toggle. We'll see how this works out. Thanks guys.
