TA Door Speakers

TA Door Speakers My driver's door speaker has the infamous Monsoon crackle. I have replaced the door speakers in a Camaro before but not a TA. What is everyone using? Components with the separate mounted tweeter or just normal coaxial 6 1/2" speakers? Any brand recommendations?

I used the CDT components that came with Kee Audio's basic upgrade package. He also sells them alone without having to get that package. I love mine and they sound MUCH better than stock!
I have heard it said before, but I don't know for sure, that some of the Alpine speakers don't work very well with the Monsoon system. Not sure why they wouldn't though.

I would not use coaxials if you can avoid it. If you are still using the Monsoon system, you would have to do some creative wiring to get around the crossover setup in the Monsoon amp.

The Monsoon system was OK in its day, but I really recommend that everything come out instead of just the speakers. I actually have 5-1/4 components in my doors that were retrofitted with custom made brackets. I chose the 5-1/4's because of better blending of mids and highs. 6-1/2's will do you just fine though. I always recommend components for our doors because of the way the tweets are mounted. They point at an angle to create better front sound staging rather than just point at your leg. But please make sure you buy the right stuff.
Sorry forgot to give you a brand recommendation. Anything from a professional audio store that you can actually listen and compare to other speakers. That is always the way to go. Please don't just buy something that has a "good rating" on crutchfield or ebay, whatever you get my drift. Audio quality is relative to who's hearing it. Some people don't know what good audio sounds like cuz they've never bothered to check out the good stuff. I have Bravox speakers. They are NOT cheap, but I am highly satisfied with the quality of sound.
See sig if you want to know what my system is. It's not cheap. Does it sound good? Are Smurfs blue?
