Default Help got a wiring nightmare!!

Ok so I picked up a 2000 T/A and noticed that only the 4 door speakers are working. After some investigation i found that the sail panel speakers were completely missing, and the passengers side rear speakers were missing. I have a 98 T/A parts car so I took all the speakers from that and installed into the 2000.

Turn the radio on and nothing! Still only have the front speakers. The rear tweeters are working but it is soooo low that you can barely hear them. The Monsoon amp is still in place and working i think. I noticed that the car previously had an aftermarket system. The power wire and blue amp remote wires are run to the back of the car. I will be removing this.

The other issue with the car is my dash lights do not work when I turn the lights on. This is my biggest issue right now because at night I cannot see my speedo or tach.

I'd like to use the monsoon amp and dont mind running new wires to the speakers but I am confused as to why the front mids are working, which are powered by the amp. I also found a cigarette lighter plug that had a red and black ring spliced into it, not sure what that was for.

Car is a wiring nightmare and would love to get everything working normal again. One more thing I found when installing the sail panel speakers was i plugged them into the harness, but looked like another connector was attached but had been cut off??

Any help would be appreciated. Don't mind stripping the car down to get this stuff to work.

When i had that issue i believe it was one of the fuses in the panel on drivers side dash. Just pull the panel cover off and inspect the fuses, i forgot which it was.

If you want for the sails you can run new wires from the monsoon amp or straight from the HU (which is what i did), unless you planned on buying another amp. And the previous owner may have had something powered by the cigarette outlet, then removed it.

Previous owner may have had different speakers in the sails that weren't compatible with the connector and just cut it off. He likely removed those speakers before selling.

Sorry to hear this, but I to came under this same smoke screen when I purchased my 1998 TA. Cept my amp was missing and speaker wires were put in place for the aftermarket system.

After talking and referencing may post on this site and other the end conclusion came the same;

If you wanna clean connected system when going to aftermarket audio system you need to start from ground zero.

1) Disconnect all old speaker wiring.
2) Disconnect & Cap old AMP Wiring.
3) Run new Amp wiring
4) Run New Speaker Wiring
5) Create your own wiring diagram for future reference.

I am actually getting all my parts in tomorrow so I will post pictures of my complete re-wire and contruction project.
