Default 02 Camaro audio system install

So I decided that the first thing I'm going to0 do to my new toy is to mostly replace the audio system the only thing I think I might keep is the stock amp for the speakers.....it will be a day or two before I start but I decided to check out the parts I have, take some pic's and see if there might be any issues...so here they are.

And here is my first issue of the build.....the body of the tweeter dome is too big.....it doesn't seem to be too bad just a little trimming and it should fit.

Its not too crazy in the car I traded in to get this guy I had a bandpass box with a single 10 and a 1200 watt amp.....way too much for a hatch back.

So for this build I decided to go with kenwood's party pack that has two 10's and a 350 watt amp, the deck is a Pioneer Z110BT and yes you need too modify the bezel too fit the DD deck. I went with Sony component speakers in the front and Alpines for the back.......if I find the 350 watt is not enough I will upgrade it.

Ok going through my wiring stuff right now and wondering if there are better locations to tap into certain signals.

here is what i need besides the normal stuff

VSS

I'm guessing the best place to get this is from the gauge cluster harness.....I think its B8 and its dark green/white

Power side of the parking break switch

I think I can go with either A5 Tan/White on the guage cluster harness or just on the switch on the parking break.

Reverse gear signal

ok the easiest is going to be one of the reverse lights but is there some where closer too the dash where I can tap in?

Thanks guys

(I miss my Kenwood where I could just ground out the parking break indicator and bypass the whole thing.)

The VSS wire is in the radio harness in a Camaro (because they have speed sensitive volume). It's the dark green with white wire in the middle of the white 10-pin connector for the radio.

Parking brake switch wire is available at the DRL module mounted on the HVAC duct behind the radio. It's the light blue wire in the corner of the 8-pin blue connector.

Unfortunately, the backup lights are the best source for that signal. However, if you're not planning to install a backup camera, you don't need that connection. Pioneer says it should be connected to tell the GPS when the car is backing up but it's not necessary - the GPS is smart enough to figure it out by your changing position.

I think the METRA conector has a couple blank spots ( I can't verify at the moment because I'm at work.) so I could add the VSS<-- too METRA only, parking and reverse signals to both the METRA and the stock conector making for a cleaner install.

So does any one have the part number(or type) for the pins used in the Stock radio conector and for the METRA conector that goes to it?

I fixed my tweeter issue.....here are some pics

As for the pins for the Metra harness.....I just bought another one and took the pins out if it.....while destroying it in the process because I don't have the right extraction tool....does any one know where I can get the female of this kind of pin in the bay area? (I already tried Fry's and I'm going to try Radio Shack tomorrow.)

I don't know where you can get the pins separately but you could do the same thing as with the other pins you got. Metra also makes a replacement harness for the factory side of the connection (presumably for those who find a butchered factory connector in their car). It's part number 71-1858 (the normal aftermarket harness is 70-1858).

Thank for the tip Whitebird but I got lazy so I just used an extra connector set I had laying around for the break and reverse signal all the other I was able to just add the pins too the Metra connector.......here is the finished product.
