Default Need help finding a connector

Ok guys.

Im trying to finish up the wiring in my car, and I want to move the fuse boxes inside, and also the computer. So, I need to find a connector(s) to allow me to disconnect the engine half of the harness, while the interior side is mounted and therefore sealing the firewall.

The fuse box wiring harness contains ~60 wires... Im not too worried if I have to use two connectors, it looks like they are 12-18 gauge... so the connector need to handle that...

I drew this picture awhile back... and since then I realized that both sides dont need to disconnect... but it might make things easier...

Im in serious need of some help... I have no Idea where to look, I was given some links to sites before, but I know too little about electronics and connectors to navigate the site... If I cant get the answer here... Ill be forced to leave them as they are... and ive already modded my bay to be without them....

please help.

How much are you willing to spend? This will require some special tools. If you search for a Delphi commector catalog, yoi van gey part numbers for whatever you want.

Id dont have time to browse right now, but a question...

To find what gauge wire they can accept... I have to look at the pins they accept. then look at the max wire diameter for the pin? I believe the ones below accept a 2.25mm wire... so... 14gauge...

Try this catalog: http://www.powerandsignal.com/docs/D...%20Catalog.pdf
These will be a lot easier to work with. That other site you linked to will allow you to look up engineering drawings of the connectors, etc.

This book has a guide to the tools and crimpers that you'll need to work with these connectors.

ftp://164.106.79.2/Instructors/CPeac...38125-620G.pdf

I got a lot of my tools from people on eBay and some others from a supplier in PA. I also have some good sources for parts and terminals.

Oh yea - Yes, you get different pins for the same connector based on the gauge of the wire. Depending on those available pins, you'll have minimum and maximum sizes for each type of connector.

here is a sight at first glance that looks like it will suit you. it has cannon plugs that are environmentally sealed... same type of stuff we use on military aircraft.

You'll want to make sure whatever connector you get has crimps and is rated for autos to make sure it will stand up to the elements and vibration.
