Bluetooth mic placement

I just replaced my stock monsoon hu with a kenwood x994. The kenwood has built in bluetooth with a corded microphone. Right now I've got the microphone zip-tied to the top of the steering column. My wife says she can hear me ok but that there is a little echo. Have any of you mounted a mic on the pillar by the windshield or on the headliner by the rear view mirror?

Hey thanks for posting the pic. Your dash area is a little different than my 98 camaro. Your mic looks like its mounted about the same height as mine. I just wonder if raising the mic more in line with my mouth would get better sound. Thanks again.

The noise from the vents blowing doesn't get picked up?

I clipped the mic for my Kenwood DNX5120 to the headliner next to the rear view mirror. I have had no problems with echo but it does pick up a lot of wind noise with the t-tops out.
