Default Trans Am door panel light

Anyone know the part # of the door panel light socket? Or a similar socket that would hold a 194 / 74 LED? I have an extra LED that I am planning on using as an ambient light to shine on my center console and need to find a good socket for it..

Thanks,
nick

**EDIT: Only a 74 pigtail, NOT a 194

That would work, but I need something a little more readily accesible (i.e not have to order a qty. of 10).

from autozone etc...

#194 sockets are much easier to find than #74. The #168/#194 bulb is used for marker lights on the vast majority cars on the road today. Most auto parts stores will carry #194 "pigtails" (socket with wires).

but a 74 series LED can still be used in a 194 (bulb) socket correct?

No, the #74 base is only about half the size of a #194 base. IOW, the #74 bulb will just fall out of a #194 socket.

For all the time you're spending and the minimal cost of another LED bulb, why not just use a #194 bulb and socket?

I'm looking for the smallest diameter socket possible.. The bulb is most likely going to go on the front of the rearview mirror (closest to the windshield) to keep it out of direct sight and shine down, so I'm trying to find the smallest socket possible to avoid having a huge, out of place bulb attached to the mirror. I know a 194 isnt a lot bigger, but I'd like to keep it as slim as possible.. this is just something I'm tryin to find in my spare time. Who knows though, I may end up going with a 194 the way this is goin

Well, for minimum size, perhaps you might want to look into an LED that doesn't require a socket. You can get LEDs with just a pair of wires attached like the ones used for alarm indicators.

Yeah, I had a few individual LEDs sitting around that I tried, but I dont think they were set up to work with 12 volts or didnt have enough built in resistance because they blew instantly when I wired them up. Its still an option though b/c I have a few recessed housings for individ LEDS to sit in to help shine directly downward and keep it out of direct sight.. just gotta get some proper leds if i go that route.. I just like the 74 led cause its a bright little bastard
