Help me pick a head unit
Help me pick a head unit I'm in the market to replace the Monsoon head unit this christmas/birthday/graduation season. The head unit must display blue, and though it seems too much to ask, I would really like one with a **** seek (not button). I'll be easy on the parents and put a ceiling at the $200-$250 mark.
So I have two head units that interest me now:
Sony Xplod CDX-GT740UI
Kenwood Excelon KDC-X494
The simplicity of the Kenwood is winning me over. Does anybody have a preference on sound quality, user interface, etc.?
And, does anybody have another head unit suggestion for me?

You've got to give a lot more info for people to give an opinion.
What do you consider important in a HU? For example, I don't like the fancy displays and I wanted the ability to continue to control my iPod directly while using USB. I don't use CDs that much but I wanted one that was good with MP3 files. Most importantly, I didn't want to spend more than a few dollars over a hundred bucks.
For my last few cars, I ended up getting Sony HU mainly because they were recommended and they were on sale (at Best Buy). For some reason, I don't like how Sonys sound, in fact, I preferred the cheapo Dual HU I had in my Jeep, plus it didn't work well with my iPod. This time I did my research and bought what I really wanted; a Kenwood; and I'm much more satisfied with the sound and controls. I thought I didn't care about HD radio, but I have it in my Jeep and wish I had spent a few bucks more for it in my new HU.

My suggestion is to spend the money for the Humount. It actually looks a little better than the stock look. I'm going that route as soon as I get over the $65 price, LOL.
The typical Metra mount doesn't look terrible, so long as you take your time when installing it. It has a flat plate that works good so long as you bend back the stock mounting tab.
