This is my best friends "new" 06 Mustang GT that he picked up from a small dealership a week ago. He just noticed this. I think it's weird. Anyone have any idea what this is or how to fix it?

It's a bad door sensor. I'm not sure if it's a physical pin or built into the door handle, I would assume the latter. If you cannot find a door pin in the jamb anywhere start pulling the door panel off and feel around the door handle for any loose wires or a plug that might be unplugged. You can also spray the latch (part that hits the striker when the door closes) with a lot of WD40, that was the standard fix in the F250's that had this same problem.
Now that I think of it, try the WD40 first, then start chasing wires. If it works, then the sensor is bad and you will either have to replace it or spray it with more WD40 whenever it starts happening again.
