Ok, I recently picked up a 1999 Formula and it has an Astra security system with keyless entry installed. The problem is that the remote only arms/disarms the security system, it doesn't unlock/lock the doors. The hatch button works sometimes but not very often. Any clue what could cause this?

I'm new to this stuff and not totally sure where to start troubleshooting.

 

What model is that Astra? Not all security systems have keyless entry.If i does have keyless entry it could be numerous things. The system isn't programed correctly,relays are bad or not wired properly,etc.

 

I will have to contact my uncle to get the exact model of the system. I was assuming it had the keyless entry since he replaced the stock unit because it was doing the same thing. It was a last minute switch before I went to buy the car from him.
