why is my subwoofer doing this????

i dont think what equipment i have matters but i got a power series rockford sub dual voice coil running off a rockford mono amp and even with the volume turned all the way down and gain on the amp itself set at its regular setting i get massive THUMPS from the sub whenever the headunit powers on or if i click a button on it or if i even plug in my ipod its such a massive feedback sound and sounds really bad like its gonna blow something? what could be wrong???

Check your grounds I think. If you know anyone with an amp you could swap into your system, try theirs

Check and see how long the ground wire is. It should be very short.
The amp itself could be having issues as well.

definitly sounds like a ground problem..make sure the place when you have the ground connected too is clean bare metal

pioneer head unit forget which model... the ground is VERY short maybe 6" but im thinking it may not be a GREAT ground so ill check that out first. i REALLY hope its not the amp cause that damn thing is expensive...
