Dual coil sub connection Q

Hey,

I've got an Alpine SWR-1023 sub to put in my car, and I want to run it at 2 ohms (the amp is Alpine MRP-M500). It is a 2 ohm + 2 ohm sub.....do I HAVE to connect on both sets of terminals, or can I connect to one without jumpering to the other? The manual indicates only 4 ohm or 1 ohm (not supported) configurations.

Pardon my ignorance, it's my first dual coil sub.

You can run 1 Ohm (Parallel), 4 Ohm (series), or drive both 2 Ohm coils separately (with two amps/channels). If you drive then separately, make SURE you are using the exact same mono source in both coils.

Yeah, that's about what I figured. I've only got 1 amp going in and no more budget. I'll have to return the 1023 and get a 1043 to run 2 ohms in parallel.
