Been having an on going problem with my radio and windows. First my radio keeps cutting off and on at random times. I tried to see if it was at any certain driving times but It just does it. I noticed while the radio is cut off the widows won't work. I put a new alternator on it, new power window motor (drivers side went out about 2 months ago) and a new window switch. Relays and fuses are good. Any ideas of what it might be?

 

Might be the Bcm. Not sure though, because only my radio went out.

 

Please tell us that you didn't replace all those parts in an attempt to fix the problem before asking...

This is a common problem with broken solder joints on the BCM circuit board. The BCM controls the retained accessory power (RAP) circuit that powers the radio and windows so that they remain powered after the ignition is turned off until a door is opened. The fix is shown here.

 

Negative. only the switch was replaced to try to fix the problem but i swapped it before i figured out they was both not working at the same time and sense i had replaced the drivers side motor and doubted that it went out along with the passenger side and the relays were fine i figured it was the switch. Thanks for the info. Ill give it a try tomoro and will post my results.

Can the BCM just be replaced or interchanged without problems ?

Window related issues are a rite of passage we all must deal with at some point. It's also good practice for troubleshooting pop up headlight issues. lolz

When you say your "radio keeps cutting off and on at random times." Is it losing power or just sound cutting out? Do you have to key off to get it to come back on? Is it a factory setup?
