Is this for a Firebird radio or a Camaro radio?

Do you mean the 1-2-3-4-5-6 buttons? Those are socketed inside the faceplate. You have to take off the faceplate of the radio to get to them.

The see through lettering is molded in to the plastic and does not wear out. Most likely, your buttons are just dirty. If you wipe them down with some rubbing alcohol, they should clean up just like new. (Too much rubbing alcohol can dissolve the plastic so just wipe them down with sparing amounts and you'll end up with shiny brand new looking buttons. The same works with the steering wheel controls.)

Can you be more specific? There are a number of "red" areas that are lit by white bulbs on the circuit board. This thread has a link to a site that shows step by step how to replace these with LED's. I'll post some details to the thread that show the incandescent parts if you people want a simpler repair. https://ls1tech.com/forums/stereo-el...hen-i-did.html

If you are good with a soldering iron, you may want to do this fix while you are in there to prevent future issues with a garbled display: https://ls1tech.com/forums/stereo-el...n-display.html This thread also has the P/N for the special display bulb if yours is burned out.

BTW - In order to get the faceplate off, you'll need to pull off the volume and tuner ***** as well as each plastic cap on each EQ slider.

wssix99 thanks for hooking me up

the number 2 button has worn through grey plastic showing light - I'll need to swap that. the rest may clean as you point out.

At least I have understanding how to do it now.

Other reds was the equalizer slides and etc that LED page shows.

I should have what I need now, thanks.
