Default Speaker locations.

I bought my 00 Z a few weeks ago and it only came with two rear speakers.

I've been to a couple of sites and they seem to say slightly different sizes for the other locations. I see a total of six speaker locations (I only have the two rear ones working right now)

Anyways, what are the real sizes that I should get for the back seat sides and the front doors? I don't plan on putting in subwoofers or tweeters, I just want the full six speakers. It has an alpine cda-7480 deck in it right now and it sounds decent.

Thanks in advance. Also, can someone link to a site or thread that tells how to take the panels off to get to the speakers? (I just don't want to irreversibly damage the car) Thanks.

-Dave

are you sure the fade isnt set all the way to the back? Just a thought since it's weird you only have 2 speakers in the back.

Yeah, I had previously checked the fader and the such.

Is there a site that details how to take the doors and rear passenger panels apart so I can throw some speakers in there? THanks.

Depends if you have the monsoon system. How do you know? Well MOST of the monsoon headunit's say "monsoon" right on the front. However, '97 and early '98 model Camaro's Monsoon head units simply said "Delco Electronics" just like the non-Monsoon systems. Check your door codes to find out if you have the Monsoon system:
ULO = Monsoon Cassette HU
UNO = Monsoon CD HU
U1S = 12 disc changer

If you do have it:
Front Speakers

6.5" "S" oversized, 2 ohm, located in the lower portion of the doors

.6" 4 ohm tweeters located on the same axis as the 6 1/2 inch. Kinda like a coaxial speaker.

Rear Speakers

4" 4 ohm midrange speakers located in the rear hatch panels

Sail Panel Woofers

6.5" 2 ohm subwoofers located next to the rear seats

8 Channel Amplifer-200w (2000 up is now 500w but you cant tell a difference) The first 2 channels are actually off of the radio. They power the tweeters located in the doors. The other six channels are in the amplifier located on the passenger side rear wheel well. The amplifier powers the rest of the speakers in the system.
***Note---This doesnt apply to convertibles***

Also, you should really read this thread.
