Default Installing 145 amp alt.

So my lights flicker so I decide I'd switch out the alt for the truck 145 amp my question is it necessary to run a second wire to the battery if so what size wire should I use?

I found a KG3 alt on line. bolted right up and changed the single wire that clips on to it.

fixed the pulsating lights for 2000 miles now

I swapped my F-body alt to the 145 amp truck type last year. No complaints, had to notch a spot in my custom made brackets. In my ls1 swap back in 02', I ran a 2nd wire from alt to battery. Recently read somewhere this isn,t the best idea???

Not that its a bad idea, its just that its pointless to have two wires IN MY OPINION when youve upgraded to the bigger gauge wires it just clutters the engine compartment. Some people will do it differently as long as it is upgraded there is no wrong way.

i replaced my battery wiring with the big 3 from innovative wiring and added a 145 amp alt i picked up from a salvage yard. the wires are perfect length. eliminated all my electrical problems ie flickering, dropping voltage at WOT and she never drops below 13 v.
