Default In need of some advice

Alright guys I just traded out my 98 formula for a 00 WS6. It is a great car, but it has the worst aftermarket speakers and head unit ever. However, seeing as how I just paid for a new car, I don't have a lot of money to put into a top of the line system. So, my question is: what would be a good, but cheap, headunit? I need it to be able to play music from my phone, through bluetooth or AUX cable is fine. I have next to no experience with audio systems so I could really use some help (in dummies terms too please). Also, what would be some good inexpensive speakers to save up for? Hope you guys can help me out, because at the moment all I can listen to is one fuzzy talk radio station or a jammed avenged sevenfold cd that came in the head unit.

Thanks

I have always been a fan of Alpine and JVC head units. Get whichever head unit has the higher wattage of headroom/output for each channel - it will sound better at normal volume and not get hot when you've got tunes playing with the windows down on the highway.

Speaker wise pioneer is a good way to save a few penny's and still sound good. I usually prefer infinity 3 ways up front and pioneer 2 ways out back - put the speakers you will pay more attention to up front for quality.

So, I am looking at two head units in the same price range and one has 20 watts RMS and the other has 18. But the one with 18 has more features and is from a company called dual. The one with 20 is a jvc, would it be the best bet? Also, I am looking at them from Crutchfield, is there somewhere else better to look?

Without hearing them back to back it is a hard choice - any car stereo local retailers around that you could go give them a listen?

Between the two i would go JVC as stated - have not had a problem with them - they also sound great too.

DUAL are complete ****, DO NOT BUY THEM. Pioneer is my headunit of choice, but a couple basics to look at if you want GOOD sound for your subs now or down the road, make sure any headunit you consider has atleast 4 volt preouts and BUILT-IN high-pass and low-pass filters, these in my opinion are required to even be considered worth looking at.

Brand wise Alpine is TOP Quality, if you can't afford it then look at Pioneer, then below that JVC, Kenwood, Panasonic and in a pinch Clarion, NO OTHER BRANDS should even be considered.
