switchback led
I bought some switchback leds along with a pair of load resistors. Low and behold the turn signals don't work. I have a tridon el12 installed. I just need to know what wires on the turn signals to wire the resistors into.TThere is a blue black and brown wire coming from the turn signal. Someone please help me. I'm new to electrical stuff and this is beyond frustrating!

Wow well this might explain the problem. Where the *** is the second flasher? I'm guessing I only replaced the hazard flasher. I dug under the dash and only found the one flasher. I cannot find the other

The turn signal flasher is clipped to the back of the dash just to the right of the opening when you remove the knee panel under the steering column (above the OBD II port).
However, if you have resistors properly installed there would be no need to change the flasher. The resistors present the standard load of an incandescent bulb to the flasher so the stock flasher should work. The resistors get wired between the blue wire and ground on each side. Be careful about installation begcause the resistors will flow current when the DRLs are on as well as during turn signal use so they will get very hot and could pose a danger if not carefully positioned.
The question about DRL compatabilty is a valid one. Just because you got a 3157 LED bulb to match the OEM bulb does not mean it is DRL compatible. Many LED bulb suppliers specifically deny warranty for DRL use because of the heat problem.

Well thank you very much for telling me where it was. Never knew there was 2. I replaced just the hazard one behind the light control. That's probably the issue. And yea I'm almost positive the lights are in fact drl compatible

The next question is why get switchback bulbs at all? They will be amber during the day (DRLs) and when using turn signals. The only time they will be white is when you have the headlights on without the turn signals. For that you gave up a significant amount of power - none of the available switchbacks are nearly as bright as some of the standard 3157 LED bulbs on the market.

sorry to bring up an old thread and could be a stupid question but a question nonetheless, but couldn't you just go with an all white 3157 LED bulb to replace the amber? This way the light stays white during the day without headlights, remains white with the headlights, and flashes white with the turn signals and hazards, correct me if i'm mistaken please!
