Monsoon Amp - Convertible
A little background - I bought an 02 TA WS6 convertible at the end of the summer (finally got the toy I've wanted for years), and it is just shy of perfect. However, I'm not thrilled with the sound (I'm a tone snob - as a hobby I run a PA system for bands), and want a system I can enjoy, but don't have to have neighborhood thumping bass.
I have no need to replace the Monsoon amp itself - it doesn't seem to add much distortion. I am replacing the head with a Clarion double din, and will be replacing the speakers (leaning toward a set of Polks, but haven't decided yet).
My understanding in the convertibles is that all signals go through the Monsoon amp, and then are split into high and low outputs for door speakers, and high and low output for the quarter panel coaxials. HOWEVER - nowhere has anybody said whether there is actually a crossover in the amplfier or not. Does anybody actually know? Has anybody actually played with this?
If so, any clue the crossover frequency?
Thanks!
However, I still found nothing about whether an actual crossover occurs in the amps, or if it simply splits and amplifies the signals.
I really don't have a great desire to jerk the amp and analyze it with an RTA if it isn't necessary, and somebody else has already done it.
If it hasn't happened, though, I will do so.
Thanks again!
As soon as I test it, I will post what I find.
