Default New Stereo Install Question

Good morning all. I have a 99 Camaro that I finally got fed up with the stock Monsoon system with 3 blown speakers, so I upgraded to a Kenwood BT652U head unit and 4 Polk Audio DX1650's speakers for the doors and sail panels. I finished the install yesterday afternoon making sure everything was installed as well as it could be. I took the stock harness for the door speakers, soldered them onto the new speakers, removing the tweeter wires, and hooked them back up to the stock harness. The sail panels were simple plug and play. Once finished, I took a test drive to enjoy the fruits of my labor, and the driver side door speaker was rattling a little. I removed the door panel, and tightened the screws a little more but it’s still there slightly. This morning, the passenger door is rattling slightly also. Should I chock this up to distortion, or could I put extra rubber washers behind the mounts? I have the foam gasket ring installed for all 4 speakers, but I would have liked it to be a little wider. Any suggestions or help you could provide would be much appreciated. Thanks!

It could be both.

An easy test would be to try the extra mounts.

Maybe an "duh" question but did you remove the monsoon amp or is it still part of your sound system?

Thanks for the reply. I will go to the hardware store and get some additional rubber washers and try that out. I was told by another Camaro enthusiast that his speakers actually touch the speaker grilles. I'll check into that later too.

I kept the monsoon amp connected. I didn't want to get into too much re-wiring, and I think it might help the head unit a bit too. Not sure though...

I use the small self tap in screws at work. I do plenty of cars a day and never had a problem with rattling. Or maybe your speaker magnet is too big and is touching something in the back
