Default alternator size?

Im sorry if this is in the wrong section, I figured I might have the best chance of finding someone here who can help me.

I have been running this chrome 1 wire ebay alternator for a long time (worked great) but recently swapped to a LS4 drivetrain. I swapped the v goove pulley to a serp pulley but the pulley was a little different size and messed up the alternator after a couple hundred miles.

Until the pulley messed up it was working fine on the LS4 putting out plenty of power. I have had that alternator forever so I dont remember what size it is. I got a "100amp" 1 wire alternator off ebay and installed it and it doesnt seem like its putting out enough....

How many amps do I need for a alternator to work good? I have 4 electric fans, 2 stereo amps, electric fuel pump, a/c, electric windows, alarm, normal lights, ect...

Thanks~

Depends on how much current your amps and fuel pump draw. Can you give a rough estimate?

Well the factory LS1 fbody was a 105 and it was deemed suitable for 2 fans, a monsoon amp, pump, AC, power everything/security, and lights, and etc

If your amps are that large, consider a 140-160amp. A good battery is usually the best option though.

i dont know what car you have, but the F-body guys upgrade to the AD244 truck alt that is 145 amp with much better idle charging. it is a little bigger and a tight fit, but it works great. i am currently using this one with my idle set at 875rpm and i love it, way better then stock LS1 alt

I have the 145amp on mine now, only because the my old one went out (150k+ miles) and I figured I'd upgrade while I was doing it.
