Steering Controls and radar Two questions:
1) What is a good radar? I bought something from costco for 100 bucks and i think its a piece of ****.
2) I wanna install a head unit - it uses one of its remotes but i want to use the steering wheel controls - any suggestions how i could hook it up?
Its a 95 TA, the unit is a Pioneer, any help would be greatly appreciated

1) Valentine One! Its $400+ but the best on the market! Go to www.valentineone.com for more info.
2) get the PAC SWI-X. It is a reciever that picks up the remote impulses from your steering wheel controls and relates them to the new head unit. Not expensive, around $50-$60. set up is not that bad either. Get it on ebay, thats where I got mine.

I have a Bel 980 - compared it with my friends V1 n the only difference between em is that for $200 more the V1 tells u what direction the radar signal is coming from. Ive used Bel's for years n they've saved my *** many many times - in fact, my old Bel got stolen n the next week I got a ticket doin 73 in a 35 on a 6 lane highway (stupid stupid speed limit for that road, ive never seen anyone do 35, they pulled over more than 15 people in the 5 minutes i was sat there) following a vette that was doin 80+ that slowed down cuz he caught the speed trap n I didn't. The V1 is nice don't get me wrong, but not everyone wants to spend $400 on a detector 
I have a PAC SWI-X for sale.
Let me know if you are interested. Sold 98 WS6, but kept headunit and XM along with dashkit and steering wheel control adapter (SWI-X).

I have a Passport 8500....go to radartest.com they'll tell you which is the best for the $. Also, motortrend once again rated the passport number one.....I do wish it had the arrows, but for the 140 I saved by buying the passport...I'll deal.

I think you missunderstood...(i wish it was 140), I saved 140 by buying the passport instead of the V1....400 for v1, I payed around 260 for my passport, 140 dollar savings. If you know someone that works at a Best Buy, and is willing to hook you up, I've heard cost on a passport is around 160 or 180.
