Thought I'd share a few photos of my recent replacement of the Bose system in my 94 Camaro Z28. I've had a couple of different head units with the stock Bose speakers already, and decided to replace everything and went with a Pioneer DEH-X8500BH with bluetooth & HD, and Rockford Fosgate speakers. I went with P1675's (6.75") in the rear sail panels and P165's (6.5") in the doors. I used the stock baskets in the doors, and the 6.75" speakers probably would have fit just a little better. Because of budget issues, I installed the head unit and sail speakers one day, then the door speakers a couple weeks later. It's nice not to have to use the Scosche adapter anymore, for the Bose speakers. In the near future, I'll be installing a 4-channel amp to power the speakers, and I'll add pics for that. In the more-distant future, I may install a 10" sub in the rear hatch area.

Did you have to do anything special with the mounting brackets? and what about the bose amplifiers that are already installed did you bypass them or hook those up?

 

No, these speakers mounted right into the mounting brackets. I removed the bose amplifiers, and even sold one of them here, along with one of the speakers.

 

i actually really liked the Bose in my '96 Z28. Then i bought my C5 Vette and the bose SUCKED. The monsoon in my '02 Z28 is not great either. Although now it's got all new speakers in it with the stock headunit. I'm thinking of changing to an aftermarket double din now though

 

my driver door speaker dosent work anymore. i think the speakers are aftermarket installed by the first owner. did u have to run new wires or was that optional?

 

You don't have to, but with my speaker wire so old, I just ran new wire.

 

how did you wire in the new wire for the speakers? Did you splice them into the cars radio harness or add them into the headunit ?
