Default HELP- 2002 camaro alarm problems?

hey guys I got a 2002 Camaro z28. when I bought the car the alarm was doing something weird where it would go off when u put the key in the ignition. the car would crank up but the alarm would be going off until it cycled through. then when u shut the car off and get out it will start going off again. it will also do it sometimes when u shut the door hard. I don't have a key fob with the car. I disabled vats in hptuners still nothing, and it says no problems reported with vats. I unhooked the shock sensor in rear and tried adjusting it still nothing. i also tried the put key in ignition and pulling fuse thing out, but i don't think im getting the correct tone, but it also didn't work. i also notices the car only locks the doors not unlock though. i want to no if there is someone who may have experienced the problem and knows how to fix it or how to completely remve the alarm system. and I mean gone completely. any help would be greatly appreciated. this seems to be a very annoyingly know problem on these cars hoping yall have seen it.

First, let's clarify a few points. The alarm going off when you are cranking is normal if you take more than about eight seconds between opening the car door and turning the key. The ONLY way to disable an armed alarm is by using the key fob remote. If you unlock the door with the key and open the door, the alarm is triggered and you have a short delay to use the ignition key to override.

Next, the optional factory alarm system and VATS are unrelated. And you can not disable VATS with a tuner or programmer because it is contained in the BCM which is not programmable like the PCM.

Finally, you can't remove the alarm system because it is also contained in the BCM which you need for numerous other functions such as VATS, courtesy lights, door locks, hatch release, power windows and stereo.

You could program the alarm system to never arm which would eliminate it ever activating. But replacement key fobs are so inexpensive, why not just buy a couple and program them?

Yea I understand the alarm goes off till the key is in the ignition and turned on where it will then go off, but that's not what it's doing. The alarm only starts to go off when the key is put into the ignition and then continues to go off even after car is running. I also no that the vats and alarm have nothing to do with each other but I wanted to make sure it wasn't going to cause the car not to crank which is why it's dissabeled. And I was able to use my hptuners to do that. As for a key fob I will try it but my buddy has the same problem with a key fob and it's not helping. So could I just assume that the bcm is bad and try replacing it? That may be why the car only locks instead of unlocking as well and my hatch thing doesn't work anymore either.

No, you have not programmed out VATS with your tuner - it's physically impossible. Yes, you can program the PCM to ignore the missing fuel enable signal from the BCM if VATS was triggered but you can't eliminate the BCM disabling the starter relay using a tuner because the BCM is not programmable. That means you can't prevent VATS from keeping your car from cranking without either rewiring or adding a proper VATS bypass with resistors.

It is quite possible that the BCM is causing the problem. However, new BCMs are quite expensive and used ones are a pain unless you have the original key that matches or you want to take the time to try every one of the fourteen possible resistor values to get the car to start. Buying a key fob is much cheaper to try. Or for that matter, borrow your buddy's fob and program it.
