Blown Speaker?
Blown Speaker? So I've been having an issue with my driver's side sail sub for a while now. At relatively high volumes, it sounded like it was shaking/vibrating the plastic trim piece. But now I tried taking the speaker out of the mount, and found out that it still rattles by itself. Could the speaker already be blown? Passenger side sounds fine. It's a CDT HD-6MSUB 6.5" DVC sub I got from Kee Audio.
I just installed these speakers in August of last year and don't usually listen to music a extreme volumes, do speakers blow that quickly?
Stock wiring and Monsoon amp.

Any rips or tears in the surround? I just blew my right CDT last week with about a two inch tear in the surround. I'm wondering if that was the consequence of underpowering it with the stock amp.

It is impossible to damage a speaker with an underpowered amp unless you overdrive the amp to the point of clipping. It's that distortion that would cause damage but unless you are tone-deaf, you wouldn't listen to a speaker at clipping levels of volume for very long... it sounds terrible.
