Default Kee Audio Replacement Speaker Questions

Hi.
I need some help. I'm currently trying to purchase a gift for my boyfriend for his 2000 Camaro z28. I found Kee Audio a while back and thought it was time to get him a replacement set since all but one of his stock Monsoon speakers have finally given out. I've done a lot of research on them, and they seem extremely reputable and I haven't really seen any negative reviews. That being said, I needed some help with the technical aspect of purchasing the gift. Like what is the difference between the basic speaker set versus the premium set? I have no knowledge what so ever about cars, so surprising him is going to be really difficult if I goof up and buy the wrong thing...

Um about the audio stuff that's in there, he has a different radio tuner if that means anything. Also he use to have this box with "speakers" in the hatchback, was that subs? Or an amp? Do I need to purchase another one as well?
What about the speakers themself? What is the difference between the levels?

Any help and knowledge on which speakers to buy would be great. Thanks in advance, and I'm sorry if I sound extremely dumb and clueless

I don't know much in regards to speakers but my best advice is to either call Kee Audio or send them a PM on here. There's a stereo and electronics section which would be more fitting for this especially since this section doesn't get much traffic. If mods are reading this please move it over. You're an awesome girlfriend for doing this!

Go with pioneer they are of the best company's in making good sounding speakers. Also they are very affordable an they make subwoofer that sounds very good. The sizes your need to get are 6.5 so two pairs will do. As for the speakers in the hatch area in the box are subs depending on his size of sub prices vary for the best deals go to amazon or sonicelectronix.com

Changing the radio in the Monsoon system doesn't change anything else but what is feeding the Monsoon amp. The speakers still do the same thing they did before because the amp is what is dictating what sound and where it will go to not the radio in this case.
So you don't have to worry about if he has an aftermarket radio, all it will do is make it sound that much better! The stock Delco radio isn't much for quality sound. Putting a nice aftermarket radio in does improve the sound quality alot because it has a better processed signal that is generally cleaner then a stock radio would have. Your one step ahead of the Monsoon sound improvement game.

Sorry to say, Pioneer hasn't made good speaker or subs in years unless you get their highest level line of speakers which are not in the affordable price range. Nor do they make a speaker that is really compatible with the Monsoon system as their speakers are 4ohm which technically will work but cut power in half, not output but power to the speaker. They also do not make a 6.5" subwoofer.
This is really bad advice. Sorry...you really do get what you pay for with speakers and subs.
