Default Which components should I get?

I really do not want so spend over $300 per set. My last system had two sets of Alpine Type R 6.5 components, and I thought those sounded good, but that was 10 years ago.

I am likely going with a Kenwood KDC-998 head unit, and Rockford Fosgate or Hifonics amps.

I want at least 100W RMS at 4ohms. These are the ones that I'm considering....

Rockford Fosgate T2652-S (if I can find them for under $300)
Alpine SPR-60C
Polk Audio MM6501
Infinity Kappa Perfect 6.1
Kenwood Excelon XR-S17P
JL Audio C2-650
CDT ES-60CV
inputs, or suggestions?

I've got the Polk DB6501 components in my doors, they aren't bad, not great but not bad, I'll probably move them over to my new trailblazer before I sell off the bird.

CDT ES-60CV look pretty good from the specs, but I have never heard of them. I will have to look into those as well.

I'd go with either the Alpine SPR-60C or Polk Audio MM6501. Both can be had for well under the $300 per pair. IMO, I've always liked the sound of the Polk MM, and Alpine Type R component speakers. The polks will play louder than the alpines(per watt) but if you plan on running about 100 watts rms per channel to them that shouldn't be a issue. I do agree that CDT make good sounding speakers but nothing I'd recommend that within your budget.

I have a pair of Infinity Kappa Perfect 6.1s (installed in 2004) and I've never been enamored with them. They don't produce great mids and the tweeters can be quite harsh, even when dialed down in the crossovers...

A few years ago I got a pair of CDT HD-6CFs from Ian @ Kee Audio for my sail panels and I liked them much better by comparison.

I recently bought a set of CDT HD-62CF components that I'll be installing the next chance I get. Those are a bit above your price range ($349), but I think it will work a bit better for my setup.
