factory car alarm

factory car alarm starting roughly a week ago, when I arm my car alarm it starts going off 5 minutes later. I have never had a problem with it previously. There has not been any repairs to the car that would involve the electrical system let a lone the alarm. I have to use my key to lock the door as it is now.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

This is not an uncommon problem and it is usually caused by the shock sensor. Try unplugging the shock sensor (under the right quarter trim panel in front of the spare tire) and see if the problem goes away.
The shock sensor is prone to getting moisture in it causing false alarms. If it is the source of your problem, you can try drying it out as you would a wet cell phone but don't expect to have much luck. You don't need the shock sensor for the rest of the alarm to work so you can decide whether it's worth buying a new replacement.
