Should i replace the sail panel subs with full range speakers???
Currently have the HD-62cfx carbon fiber door set and the EU-6 MB.2 subs from Kee Audio. I decided to go ahead and bite the bullet on a full system and now i am debating on what to do with the sail panels. I have a 5 channel amp that i will be using and a stealth box sub (Infinity Kappa 10"). With adding the sub, i am wondering if i would be better off adding full range speakers to my sail panels? Head unit will be a Pioneer AVH-X5600BHS. Will also be installing RAAMmat and ensolite during the install. Any suggestions? Personally, never been a big fan of the bass in the sails. Just didnt care for the rattles. Open to all opinions though.
NO, just simply NO, NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS. adding full range, which you can technically do since you aren't using the monsoon amp (with a monsoon amp it's pointless because they don't get full range signal to start with), will only pull your soundstage behind you and you don't want that.
I have a very similar setup to yours, and I was actually considering changing the sail panel speakers to subs because of the soundstage being so far rear.
Currently I have CDT HD-62CFs in the doors, and CDT HD-6CFs in the sails, with a JL 10w3v3-2 sub in a stealth box.
I only got the soundstage where I like it by switching to tweeter pods (so the imaging was better) and turning down the gain on the sail speakers some. And those sail speakers don't even have a real tweeter.
I'm pretty happy with it now, but if I was doing it again, I'd do subs there.

I am thinking with the new headunit, cleaner signal, and more power, i may be able to fine tune the sound better and get it where i want it. Plus the sound deadening should help a lot with the vibrations and rattles.
The fronts though seem to be a little bright for my tastes which i wasnt expecting. Think this could be due to the lack of adjustment capability with the stock headunit.
Sounds good though. I will move forward with the current setup and fine tune. See how everything sounds and then go from there.

To expand on my earlier comment, kind of an FYI, on the base model v6 cars that don't have monsoon and have a normal speaker there, the factory put a 10 ohm speaker in that location because that is the kind of "power reduction" versus the 4 ohm fronts you need to prevent the sound stage from being pulled back and those cars don't have rear hatch speakers also pulling the sound stage back.
Not really sure on the crossover. I didnt use the CDT crossover and just relied on the factory amp filtering for the components. I am hoping the adjustments in the new head unit will help me tone it down some. I have the crossover at home though and will give it a look.
