Keeping stock HU????
I have purchased two sets of components and a 12" sub to replace all the speakers in my car. I have a 4ch amp for the components and a mono for the sub. I have been kicking this around but decided I would like to keep my factory HU. I cannot seem to find any info on doing this but I need to know how to wire my two new amps to the factory HU. Can anybody help me with this??

Your gonna need two line level adaptors. One for the interior speakers and one for the sub. They you wire one set to the sail panels speakers normally go for the sub amp. Then wire another to the rear hatch speakers to another one for the 4 interior speakers. Your then gonna need to run new speaker wire to the front doors and sail panel speakers. Kind of a long job but not too hard.

Do you have the monsoon system? Your going to need one of each one designed for two channel for the sub and one designed for four channel. If you dont have the monsoon system they car be wired up behind the head unit. If you do have the monsoon system they will have to be wired after the amp.

Yeah, its the monsoon. So I guess I would have to leave the amp in. I think I might be back to the idea of getting a new HU. I really would like to keep the stock one, but I dont know that I wanna mess with all this crap. How much are these line Adaptors? Thats going to be the deciding verdict.

I did this with PAC OEM1 and a AOEM-GM21C for about $40 from autotoys.com. It will give you 2 sets of RCA plugs out, F&R, so no need for two line level converters. All plug and play with no cutting. I had to turn the gains on the OEM1 down from their factory settings, but that was the only adjustment I did. I jumpered the sub amp off of the outputs on my 4 channel amp with a seperate RCA interconnect or you could just use a RCA Y connector from the inputs. Do a search for Banddirector at ls1.com. He has a great writeup on his web page about doing this. And if your stock HU is working good, I would keep using it.

This will help:

If your new amps have speaker level inputs, you can eliminate the monsoon amp but keerp the head unit.
